Fault Diagnosis (ICD-ETSE)

This section describes faults largely divided into four types as follows:
  • Operation does not perform normally.
  • Impossible Communication
Operation does not perform normally.
Situation
Possible cause
Check/Treatment
When the system status LED (SYS LED) flashes red at power-on:
(1) With the USB Type-C cable connected, invalid parameter values may be set.
(2) Communication with the controller connected via RS-485 has not been established correctly.
(1) Start the wireless device parameter setup tool, correct the parameter values, and write the settings again.
(2) Check the axis numbers set on the connected controller. Also, confirm that only the gateway unit is not connected.
When the system status LED (SYS LED) lights on red at power-on:
(1) With the USB Type-C cable not connected, invalid parameter values may be set.
(2) There may be a concern of a failure of internal components.
(1) After connecting the USB Type-C cable, start the wireless device parameter setup tool, set the parameters to the correct values, and write the settings.
(2) After connecting the USB Type-C cable, start the wireless device parameter setup tool and, if alarm information can be read, check the details.

Impossible Communication
Situation
Possible cause
Check/Treatment
Communicate via Ethernet cannot be established.
(1) The unit is connected to a PC via a USB Type-C cable.
(2) No Modbus TCP client exists on the same subnet.
(3) No device is connected to the address set in the default gateway.
(4) Poor wiring or breakage of the communication cable.
(1) Even when connected via RS-485, if the unit is connected to a PC via a USB Type-C cable, USB communication takes priority. Disconnect the USB Type-C cable before use.
(2) Check the IP address of the Modbus TCP client and the IP address set in the Ethernet/RS-485 converter. When connecting without a router or gateway, all devices must be placed on the same subnet.
(3) Check whether the address set as the default gateway in the Ethernet/RS-485 converter matches the IP address of the connected router or gateway.
(4) Review the wiring. Replace the cable if necessary.
Communicate via USB cannot be established.
(1) Unable to recover from suspend mode.
(2) Poor wiring or breakage of the communication cable.
(1) Reconnect the USB Type-C cable. With the RS-485 cable connected, turn on the controller power and check whether the system status LED blinks in green.
(2) Review the wiring. Replace the cable if necessary.
